Lichdragon Fortissax is one of the most hidden secret bosses in Elden Ring, offering a memorable combat encounter deep within the subterranean realm of Deeproot Depths. Accessing this legendary creature requires completing specific quest steps associated with Fia, the Deathbed Companion. Following the proper path ensures players do not miss this monumental battle during their journey through the Lands Between.
Progressing Fia's Questline in Roundtable Hold
To begin the journey toward Fortissax, players must interact with Fia at Roundtable Hold and allow her to hold them. After advancing her dialogue and reaching the Altus Plateau, she will present a weathered dagger that needs to be returned to D, Hunter of the Dead. Leaving and returning to Roundtable Hold afterwards will open a new room where Fia departs after revealing her true motives.
Reaching the Subterranean Deeproot Depths
Players must navigate to the Deeproot Depths to locate Fia in her final resting place. This subterranean region can be accessed either by defeating the Valiant Gargoyles in Nokron and resting in a stone coffin or by descending through the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds beneath Leyndell. Traversing the giant tree roots in Deeproot Depths leads straight to Prince of Death's Throne.
Defeating Fia's Champions at Prince of Death's Throne
Upon arriving at Prince of Death's Throne, players face several waves of Fia's Champions in a mandatory arena battle. Defeating these spectral warriors clears the path to speak directly with Fia, who rests beside the corpse of Godwyn the Golden. Choosing to give her the Cursemark of Death, obtained from the Divine Tower of Liurnia, cements her trust and unlocks the dream encounter.
Entering the Deathbed Dream to Fight Fortissax
After giving Fia the required item, exhaust her dialogue and reload the area until she falls into a deep sleep. Interacting with her slumbering body allows players to enter the Deathbed Dream where Lichdragon Fortissax awaits. Defeating this powerful dragon rewards players with the Remembrance of the Lichdragon, which can be exchanged for devastating lightning incantations.
